Daniela Ruah’s recently-announced crossover to Hawaii Five-0 did not take much convincing.
NCIS: Los Angeles creator Shane Brennan says it was an easy decision for the actress, and for himself, to loan special agent Kensi Blye to a case that finds her working closely with the team on Five-0.
“The opportunity popped up and we said, ‘That’s great; let’s do it.’ Those things happen without a lot of planning,” he said, adding that Ruah had never been to Hawaii and therefore jumped at the chance.
“It’s something that pops up in the writing … It has to be organic or else it just feels bolted on. It has to be a natural extension of the story that’s going on. For Hawaii Five-0, that’s exactly what it is.”
Brennan didn’t offer too many details, but said “It’s an appearance on that show that’s important and has impact,” and that NCIS: LA fans will want to tune in because there will be references to it in the future.
No plans exist for another NCIS crossover, meanwhile, but “there are always possibilities.”
